How to set a cancellation policy customers accept
A clear, fair policy protects your time without scaring customers away. Write it once and show it to everyone.
- 1
Decide how much notice you need
Pick a window that suits your work: 4 hours for a car wash, 12 for a lesson, 48 for a photo session.
- 2
Say what late changes cost
Tell customers what happens after the window: a fee, a lost deposit or a new booking at full price.
- Free to change before the window
- A fee after it
- A deposit kept for no-shows
- 3
Show it before they book
Put the policy on a page in your booking page's footer and mention it in your confirmation message.
- 4
Apply it kindly
Allow an exception for emergencies and regulars. Customers remember how you treated them.
